Family-Friendly Activities for Every Season in Utah
Utah is the ultimate destination for family-friendly activities in every season. From spring hikes through colorful wildflowers to snowy winter adventures in world-class ski resorts, Utah offers endless opportunities for families to explore, play, and make lasting memories all year long.
In the spring, I enjoy going to Utah’s national and state parks when the wildflowers are in bloom, and the weather is perfect for exploring. Arches National Park is always a hit with kids because of the unique rock formations, while Antelope Island is unforgettable for spotting bison up close. We also love driving through the Wasatch Mountains or hiking in Zion before the summer crowds arrive.
Summer is all about making memories outdoors. Some of our favorite activities include swimming and boating at Bear Lake, rafting on the Provo River, and camping under the stars in Bryce Canyon. Utah’s summer festivals are also a highlight, with live music, food, and family-friendly entertainment in places like Salt Lake City and Park City.
When fall comes, I slow things down and enjoy Utah’s beautiful colors. Scenic drives through Big Cottonwood Canyon are breathtaking, and we always make time for pumpkin patches and apple picking. It’s also the perfect season to explore hiking trails in Capitol Reef or Snow Canyon, since the cooler weather makes the experience even better.
In the winter, Utah transforms into a snowy wonderland. There is plenty of skiing at resorts like Park City and Deer Valley, as well as tubing, ice skating, and visiting Midway’s magical Ice Castles. Even a simple sleigh ride through the mountains feels like something out of a storybook.
For me, Utah is the perfect place because it offers something special in every season. Whether we’re exploring nature, joining local festivals, or enjoying snowy adventures, Utah makes family time unforgettable all year long.
How Soon After a Trip Do You Unpack?
Everyone has a different unpacking style. Some people get home and immediately empty their bags, so laundry is started, and the suitcase is out of sight. For them, unpacking right away is a way to feel settled and back in routine.
Others prefer to wait. After a long day of travel, the idea of tackling a suitcase can feel exhausting, so leaving it for the next day gives them time to rest and recharge. As long as it doesn’t sit for too long, a short delay can be perfectly reasonable.
I fall somewhere in between. If I’ve been on a quick weekend getaway, I like to unpack right away. But after a longer trip, I’ll give myself a little grace and wait until the following day. In the end, the best approach is the one that makes returning home feel easiest for you.
